To explore the business benefits of the integration of weighing data for manufacturing companies, METTLER TOLEDO announces publication of its new white paper, entitled “Integrating Process Weighing Data: Industrial Weighing.” This new report focuses on the data integration challenges facing manufacturers, and highlights best practices to improve asset use, reduce operating costs and facilitate compliance with industry standards and regulations.

One key finding of the paper is that clear goal identification is necessary for companies that wish to reap the intended process improvement rewards. Manufacturers can face significant difficulties in identifying and implementing the most effective system for weighing data collection and integration, especially when they are faced with legacy operations. To maximize return on investment, the whitepaper notes considerations for system upgrades that can include process improvements, upgrades of existing equipment, consideration of available budget, possible adverse operating conditions (for example hazardous environments or extreme temperature), and the data user’s needs. With the continuing evolution of process automation, companies also have the choice of opting for PLC control, or standard PC-based serial or Ethernet TCP/IP data communication. The white paper details each system requirement and limitation, as well as providing considerations for the optimal integration of an EtherNet/IP network for weighing data.
